Family Challenges, Redux

Stella’s brother came through the first phase of his surgery. According to Stella, it’s a bit difficult to tell how he is feeling (or was an hour ago) because he was not yet recovered enough for conversation. Tomorrow he has another phase of the surgery. Stella has to be back at work, so she is leaving her brother in the care of one of his colleagues.

Meanwhile, the kitties and I are spending a quiet evening without Stella’s usual energetic presence… she decided it was safer to sleep on the sofa at the hospital than to attempt to drive home. And I agree: Houston freeways are, if possible, even more terrifying at night.

Hope tornadoes haven’t affected you or Stella. Stay safe, you guys!

It’s not even raining here at the moment (1:30am CT), ellroon. Radar shows some on its way, and they’re predicting severe t’storms and hail, but we haven’t seen any of it yet.

Ah, at last… thunder this morning. I think I’m going back to bed…

I am, too, Enfant! Stella is supposed to stop by Our House before she goes to work, but it’s a little late for that, and she may have decided, in light of morning rush hour traffic, to go straight from the hospital to work.

Of course I’ve fed the cats, but when Stella is away for 24 hours or more, they become rather glum, and if she’s gone for two or three days, they are downright despondent.
