TPM summarizes the number of web sites that went dark or otherwise modified their home pages to protest SOPA/PIPA, the number of people who signed petitions against the legislation (hint: it’s in the multiple millions, more than any other petition I’ve ever heard of), or… perhaps most important of all… announced from their congressional offices that they are withdrawing their support for the bill. Nineteen (19) members of Congress announced they were changing their vote. It leaves us with not quite enough to sustain a filibuster, but it’s getting close.
The real test will be next spring, when everyone is off on vacation and the RIAA/MPAA thugs try to revive the legislation. That’s when we’ll really need to use some political muscle.
