Krugman On Romney’s Evident Lack Of Compassion

Krugman quotes David Atkins of Digby’s blog regarding Romney’s expressed enjoyment of firing someone. Romney, who seems unrepentant about his remark, is thus the very picture of unconcerned privilege, the signature of America’s wealthiest 0.01%… the last kind of person one wants as president. Krugman compares him with FDR, who was every bit the scion of wealth and privilege, but was consistently able to imagine himself in a poor person’s shoes and empathize enough to attempt to remedy poverty. To use my late father’s old phrase, Romney just doesn’t give a rat’s ass.

Romney made huge fortune while workers lost jobs, stockholders and creditors lost money.:

Enfant, thanks; I’ll have to follow up tomorrow… I’m just too tired tonight.

There is no comparison between Romney and FDR. The Roosevelt family are long established old wealth, the Romney’s come from a polygamist Mexican Mormon cult driven out by the civil war. The Romney story really stem from Romney’s father, who was a rather talented right-wing Governor of Michigan and CEO of Chrysler.

I would say “Romney is a rat’s ass.” he suffers from the same complex as did little Bush: he is an incompetence shadow of his more accomplished father.

MandT, Romney is a scary guy, and not because of his magic underwear. Believe it or not, I once sang in my high school choir in the Mormon Tabernacle (it’s a long story) and came away unscathed (also uninfluenced), but Romney’s whole attitude toward the human race is the attitude of one sorry bastard, and I do not want him for president. If it is possible for anyone to be worse than GeeDubya Bush, I’d say he is indeed worse.
