It’s OK If You’re A (Scurvy, Slimy, Scummy, Sleazy) Republican – Rick Santorum Edition

The depths to which Ricky-boy Santorum can go would do credit to the bathysphere. Here’s TPM’s Benjy Sarlin:

President Obama really can’t catch a break from Rick Santorum on terrorism, who condemned the White House for announcing its raid on Osama Bin Laden.

In a speech before the Republican Jewish Coalition in Washington, the presidential candidate slammed the White House on Wednesday for its handling of the Bin Laden operation, suggesting that the president revealed news that the mastermind behind 9/11 died at American hands too soon.

Read for yourself where Santorum claims Obama went astray. When a man whose own political party kept bin Laden alive for most of a decade as a bogey-man to scare the American public claims Obama misstepped, not in assassinating bin Laden but in announcing the event too soon (as if the whole world wasn’t going to know almost immediately anyway), you have to think to yourself “This is a man who would also worry about man-on-dog sex.”

Look. I do not know how much effect the assassination of bin Laden had on the alleged Global War on Terra. I agree that the act probably had more political use for Obama than actual impact in discouraging would-be terrorists. And I do not intend to defend Obama’s general policies regarding terrorism, which have been as constitutionally questionable as George W. Bush’s policies ever were. But I do know that the blatantly obvious Republican decision to deride Obama for the assassination stems purely from their partisan hatred of him, not from any real-world fault they find in the action. Ricky-boy needs to face it: it’s what GeeDubya would have done if he could have, probably on his last day in office. It’s what literally any American president would have ordered.

What an asswipe Ricky is! Let’s all chant together: MAN ON DOG! MAN ON DOG! MAN ON DOG! …

He probably resents the fact it didn’t happen on Dubya’s watch.

They all do, jams… all the GOPers, right after the assassination, jumped in to try to take credit on behalf of GeeDubya Bush. Irrational? no doubt, but that didn’t stop them from pitching that line. Their regular followers, of course, will believe literally anything.
