What #Occupy Wants: ‘The Right To Be Here’

Please read what danps has to say in The Occupy movement and reclaiming the First Amendment. The First Amendment rights of assembly and petition are at the core of #Occupy’s demands, and are also the very rights denied over the past two weeks by an assortment of police forces so militarized it is impossible to distinguish them from a kind of army directed against citizens pursuing nonviolent protests.

Why is that difficult to understand? Our nation’s founders understood it and could proclaim it more than two centuries ago; what is wrong with today’s authoritarian bullies in city and university governments who seem to want to undo what our founders did?
