Bachmann Goes All Christian On Our Asses

TPM:

Michele Bachmann: Earthquake, Irene Were A Wake Up Call From God For Politicians

Speaking to a crowd in Florida over the weekend, Bachmann said the historic earthquake and massive hurricane that rocked the East Coast last week was a message that God is upset with the way politicians in Washington have been doing things. The interview with the St. Petersburg Times grabbed the quote:

“I don’t know how much God has to do to get the attention of the politicians. We’ve had an earthquake; we’ve had a hurricane. He said, ‘Are you going to start listening to me here?’ Listen to the American people because the American people are roaring right now. They know government is on a morbid obesity diet and we’ve got to rein in the spending.”

OK, Michele, we get the idea. Let’s all sing, to the tune of “The Bear Went Over the Mountain” …

The nut came outta the wood-work;
The nut came outta the wood-work;
The nut came outta the wood-work…
To say what she could say.
To say what she could say;
To say what she could say;
The nut came outta the wood-work…
To say what she could say.

“It’s God that’s shreddin’ the wood-work;
It’s God that’s shreddin’ the wood-work;
It’s God that’s shreddin’ the wood-work…”
That’s all the nut could say.
That’s all the nut could say.
That’s all the nut could say.
“It’s God that’s shreddin’ the wood-work…”
That’s all the nut could say.

If God speaks to Michele Bachmann, not in that still, small voice but in earthquakes and hurricanes, the last thing we need is for her to become President of the United States. For one thing, we haven’t got the budget for the cleanup!

    Hard to find God smiting specific people… gotta go with what is available. I had no idea there were so many gays and evil doers on the east coast though!

      ellroon, why do people keep talking about Evil Dewars? It’s not my favorite Scotch, but I wouldn’t call it evil!

    IGah what an idiot! If I were a believer it would amuse me if Bachmann went up to the Pearly Gates only to find God was a black woman married to her partner Jezebel!

    That said I think her destination will be to meet Lucy Ferr!

    or destiny

      jams, I’m not really qualified to judge anyone else’s notion of Heaven or Hell. My UU background officially disavows the existence of the latter, and I’m pretty sure the former doesn’t exist, either. So Michele is welcome to believe whatever she pleases, as long as she doesn’t afflict me… or the rest of America… with her beliefs. And that is… forgive my choice of term… the crux of the matter: government and religion are better not mixed; it’s bad for both of them.

    The devil wears a red dress and does missionary position.

    • Steve  On Monday August 29, 2011 at 2:35 pm

      MandT – is that the Red Dress of Grievances we keep petitioning the government for? 👿

  • MandT  On Monday August 29, 2011 at 3:38 pm

    lol. yep that very one!

  • Bryan  On Monday August 29, 2011 at 9:35 pm

    Steve, the response to MandT was worth 5 groans with exclamation marks.

    Not to get into the theology, but the earthquake was centered in the district of the Republican House majority leader, and Irene dropped to a Tropical Storm when it got to the Blue States, so the message would have been to the ”Red pols’, even those who don’t wear dresses in public [in private, with Repubs who knows, or wants to guess]. 👿

      Bryan and MandT, thanks… as far as I know, that respelling originated with me, more than a few years ago. But this was the perfect context, wasn’t it!

    How lovely for Michelle, to be God’s confidant-on-earth!

    The woman is a lunatic.

      c, Rep. Bachmann is a genuine nut-case… flip her latch and you’ll find a fully developed nut inside. It always amazes me that she regains her seat every term; the Minnesotans I know aren’t that stupid.
